Alternative Medicine - Relieving Pain through Crystal Healing
What is pain?
Pain is the bodies way of telling you something is wrong and it needs attention. Usually pain is caused by some sort of excess energy. It is possible to use crystals to help ease pain levels by releasing blocks or drawing bad energy out of the body itself. Crystals can also help stimulate the bodies natural healing mechanism and blood flow.
The types of stones used for healing
Stones with a 'cool' colour are usually the ones used to help calm painful areas, and restore the natural flow of energy to an area that has been damaged. Colours like blue, pink, light green, indigo and violet, as well as the metal copper. Many good healing stones have high levels of concentrated copper.

How to chose your crystals
I was once told when choosing the right crystal for you - 'it is the crystal that choses you, you don't chose the crystal'. And I honestly believe this to be true. Feel the crystals energy, see what you are drawn to, hold it in your palm - is it cold or does it warm to you, this is a good sign. Don't rush your selection getting the right stone is important. But be warned a stone may not work for you forever, it needs regular cleansing and sometimes may stop working all together for a while, if it doesn't work with your body at that moment in time
A little personal story. I got into crystals at the age of 14 when I noticed some at the side of the bed in my aunts house. She took me to buy my first crystal necklace. I said I wanted an amethyst as this is my favourite colour and what I thought would be my favourite stone (it still is!). So in the shop the assistant told me, not to think about what the stone looked like but to see which pendant I felt drawn to. Although I was shown a tray of beautiful and different amethyst pendants I didn't feel drawn to any of them. I suddenly noticed another in the cabinet that had just a flash of purple across its centre but was mostly a pale translucent green. I had no idea what stone it was but it defiantly drew my attention, I wanted it! It turned out to be Fluorite - which although it is mostly common in violet colour can actually come in a wide range.
That is how I got my first crystal pendant and it is one that has stayed with me for many years and I still wear it when I think I need extra luck. Fluorite is known to fend off colds, bring order from chaos, uplift emotions and induce relaxation. Plus its especially good for writers as it aids the development of ideas and inspirations! Maybe its the reason I became a journalist because when I was 14 I wanted to be a physio and changed my mind to being a writer! Who knows.
